Content Column Tab : WPThemeBuilder

The content column tab in wordpress theme builder plays the main role for changing the appearance of your article/post content area and all of its formatting (background color/image, text color, font etc).

Working with Content Column Tab

Content column has many settings. Most of them are same as the other tabs do have. Lets talk about the common formatting elements first.

Content Column Formatting

  1. BG Color : Controls the background color of Content Column. You can always specify a background color from our color picker or a pre-defined web 2.0 colors table.
  2. BG Image: You can input a URL from an external source or you can also use an image from our media library by clicking the image gallery button right next to input field. In order to upload your own graphics you still need to open media library. There you can find upload image option. See media library for more details.
  3. Repeat: Use one of three options to repeat your background image.Repeat Horizontally (repeat-x) , repeat Vertically (repeat-y), or repeat everywhere (repeat). Select No-Repeat if you don’t want to repeat the image in background.
  4. Image Position: If you want to position the used background image in content area, use this field. You can input a position in CSS style. i.e XX YY .. for example 10px 30px or alphabetically (top left) (center right) or in percentage (10% 50%) etc.
  5. Font Family: Use one of 12 web safe font group sets to apply a font to the text in Content Column. In most cases leave it “Please select”
  6. Font Size: Select blank option to reset or you can also choose a font size.
  7. Text Color: The text color of your content section.
  8. Save Settings: The important button, you always need to press these after making any change in any control in content column tab.Content Formatting 2
  9. Padding (spacing of text inside the content column)
  10. Margins (spacings of content column box from outer world)
  11. Borders
  12. Extra CSS: You can always append any custom CSS code. This can override any other settings such as background image, color etc. (usually not used by basic users)

The more options tab in content column will bring you a lot more options for changing the appearance of your content area such as typography, commenting styles, content column widgets etc. Lets talk about them one by one.

Comment Styles

Comments are the most important part of a blog. This may not be used for business websites as they can be disabled from WP-Admin but a blog is nothing if it does not have any comment section. This button will allow you to change the appearance of comment listing styles. You can also customize the appearance yourself.

Clicking this button will open a pop-up window from there you can select a matching comment style for your theme. You can change the comment style from dropdown list or by clicking next/previous button. To apply style, simply click on apply Style button.

Manual Typography

The manual typography button will bring a pop-up that will allow you to alter the formatting style of any html element in content area such as headings (h1,h2,h3,h4 etc, and links). You can define your own formatting style

Pre-defined Typography

We also have prepared a list of pre-defined typography formatting styles. This list includes styles from light color scheme to dark color scheme in many flavour. This will help you to apply content element formatting to match your theme.

Insert Port Widgets

The most amazing and fun part of the content column. We have prepared a list of plugins that can be inserted into content column. This option is helpful for not only non-tech persons but also web designers to quickly insert the post widgets and plugins. Some of these widgets are listed below, there are many more. These widgets can be placed either on top of your post content or below the content. You can drag these widgets to sort their order. They will be in same order in final resultant theme.

  • Author Box : will display the author bio box (fully customizable with colors and styles)
  • Social Bookmark buttons (small): Insert social bookmarking icons like digg, del.icio.us, furl and many more. Helpful to make your content visible to social networks.
  • Social Bookmark buttons (large): Same widget like above, but this have beautiful and large icons with some decent style.
  • Post Meta Box: displays information about post such as categories, post date etc
  • Related Posts Widget: displays a list of posts related to your current post that is being viewed. (Fully customizable for coloring)
  • Post Breadcrumbs: displays the hierarchical location of current post to the visitors.
  • Post Tags Box: displays the tags associated with current post or page
  • Star Rating Widget: Let your visitors to rate the content they are reading. By placing a star rating widget
  • Text Accessibility control : Real time font resizer. (helpful and improves accessibility of your blog)

Many of these widgets requires you to install a plugin such as related posts, star ratings, breadcrumbs etc. The plugin files will be provied in theme folder along with description where to upload them and how to install them.
