Categories List Widget : WPThemeBuilder
A categories list widget displays a list of categories along with their description in a square box. This can be used to give more accessibility to your users by providing them a descriptive category list. Sidebars only have links to categories but in this widget you can show description of categories too. And best of all this can only be viewed in home page.
Adding a Categories List Widget
To add this widget, first you have to enable home page customization by going to home tab in theme builder and then enable home page customization option.
- Click on Category List button, you will find a popup window for a sample of this widget and all possible settings.
- Enter a widget name (This is helpful if you are manually editing the theme code later.) All home page widgets needs a name.
- Select a pre-define categories list style.
- Enter a Widget title to display as heading of this widget.
- You can also customize this widget to change its appearance. Simply click on Customize button and make the color changing to your desired one.
- See an exmple below for possible customizations.
- You can limit the categories to only show parent categories. By default this widget displays all categories.
- Once you are done click on ADD Widget button to append this widget on your wordpress theme’s home page.
No Administration
This widget have no administration panel in WP-Admin. This is a code only widget and displays a list of categories.
