Sidebar Formatting Tab : WPThemeBuilder
WPThemeBuilder provides access to all possible areas in your sidebar for customization. You can change colors, background colors, link styles, sidebar title styles and a lot more. This documentation page will explain you how to take control over sidebar formatting tab in WPThemebuilder.
Changing the appearance of your Sidebar
Lets take a look at the screenshot of sidebar formatting tab section and all of its controls.
- BG Color : Controls the background color of Sidebar. You can always specify a background color from our color picker or a pre-defined web 2.0 colors table.
- BG Image: You can input a URL from an external source or you can also use an image from our media library by clicking the image gallery button right next to input field. In order to upload your own graphics you still need to open media library. There you can find upload image option. See media library for more details.
- Repeat: Use one of three options to repeat your image over sidebar. Repeat Horizontally (repeat-x) , repeat Vertically (repeat-y), or repeat everywhere (repeat). If you don’t want your image to be repeated, then select No-Repeat option.
- BG Image Position: If you want to position the used background image in sidebar area, use this field. You can input a position in CSS style. i.e XX YY .. for example 10px 30px or alphabetically (top left) (center right) or in percentage (10% 50%) etc.
- Sidebar Position: Sidebar position option lets you to change the location of your sidebar.
Right Side (default): Align the sidebar in right side of your theme
Left Side: Align the sidebar in left position of your theme
None: If you want to remove the sidebar and create only one column theme then use this option. - Font Family: Use one of 12 web safe font group sets to apply a font to the text in sidebar. In most cases leave it to “Please select”.
- Font Size: Select blank option to reset or you can also choose a font size. (It will override all sidebar formatting if applied)
- Sidebar Style: The most important part of sidebar formatting tab. We’ve created a list of pre-defined sidebar styles. You can click on this button and apply a sidebar box’s style to your theme.
- Padding, margins, borders: Change these settings that suits you best
- Extra CSS: If you want to add any extra css code to your sidebar (Not boxes) , then add that code here.
- Save Settings : This button needs to be pressed whenever you make any change from BG color to extra CSS.
Sidebar More Options
This tab is not a finished part of theme because we’ll be adding many more widgets as soon as we get our user’s response and requests to add more things/widgets in sidebars.
- Add Sidebar Widgets : This button will let you to add many sidebar widgets such as categories list, recent posts list, recent comments, flickr photos and many more. Please note that these widgets are not controllable from WP-Admin. If you want to widgetize your sidebar you have to add Wordpress Widget Holder.
- Wordpress Widget Holder: By default your sidebar is not widgetized. If you want to use wordpress widget page then you need to add a wordpress widget holder. Click on this button and write a name of your widgetized section. You can place it before or after the manual widgets.
- Manual Typography: Manual typography will let you to change the color, formatting and appearance of all sidebar elements such as links, headings etc.
